Dalea purpurea Delosperma From late summer until frost

From late summer until frost

It is valuable for this late season floral display and for supporting late season pollinators especially migrating Monarch Butterflies

and that the flower stalks remain sturdy and attractive until frost

For those who like this kind of thing

I have longed for a compact

Dalea purpurea Delosperma From late summer until frost(aka: Petalostemon purpureum) Dalea, not to be confused with a poorly enunciated Dahlia, is a little known North American (most of the Central US) prairie native baptisia relative. The wiry 2' tall stalks, held at a 45 degree angle, are clothed with lacy fern like green foliage and topped from late spring through early summer with fascinating butterfly attracting purple flowers that resemble 2" long green pickles, each wearing a purple tutu.
