He initially studied at the Technical University of Budapest to become an architect, but decided to pursue a career as a painter. Wanyi specializes in painting still lifes with fruit. His works are very realistic and have clear similarities with the still lifes of 17th century Dutch masters, Pieter Claesz (1596 1661) and Willem Claesz. Heda (1594 1680).
